After breakfast, students are dismissed from the gym to their classrooms. If students are not eating breakfast, they should remain off school grounds until the 8:30 a.m. bell. Each class is assigned an entrance and exit. When the 8:30 a.m.  bell rings, students proceed to their assigned door and line up there until the 8:40 a.m. bell rings when everyone enters the building. The school doors (except the front doors) will remain locked after 8:45 a.m. and before 3:30 p.m. dismissal, except Monday when dismissal is at 2:15 p.m. Early dismissal: Parents picking up children before school is officially dismissed are required to write a note to the teacher or call the school office (347-5876) indicating the time and reason for early dismissal. Parents must report to the main office to sign out students during the school day. When students return to school, parents must sign children back into school at the office. Late arrivals: Students who arrive after the start of the school day (9:00 a.m.) must check in at the office before reporting to their classrooms. A note describing why students are tardy is required. If a student is consistently tardy, the attendance concern must be reported to the school district's attendance counselor. School dismissal: Carter Lake Elementary School is dismissed at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday - Friday and 2:15 p.m. on Monday for students kindergarten through sixth grade. Morning preschool classes are dismissed at 11:20 a.m. Students must leave the building and go straight home or follow parents' instructions for after school supervision. When picking up children at school, please arrive at 3:30 p.m. and meet your child at a designated area away from exits. It is illegal to park directly in front of the school in the yellow zone for buses.
